Supply Manager - Cut Flowers

Ball Seed is seeking a self-motivated individual to embrace a combination of operational excellence with strategic relationship building. Supply managers work closely with suppliers in their network to build the foundation which in turn supports an unsurpassed level of customer service provided by the Ball Seed sales force.This role will be a part of a team which is at the intersection of customer experience and sustainable, profitable growth for our company.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Own the relationship with suppliers to leverage best costs and encourage operational efficiencies between BSC teams & the supplier.
• Work with sales to ensure that we have the right assortment in our cut flower line. 
• Lead for small grower cut flower programs, organizations, assortment, and pricing strategy. 
• Collaborate with Seed Business Manager and supply business teams on exclusives, early releases, or new varieties.
• Focus on Tissue-Culture raised materials specifically for forecasting, inventory management and order deadlines with off-shore labs, involving of other product lines for operational efficiency.
• Educate & communicate the supply network features and benefits to our sales force to help them guide actions with their customers. Connect sales force with appropriate Technical Support quickly when needed.
• Negotiate market needs to achieve results and a strong bottom line.
• Collaborate internally and externally for efficiency in pricing, invoicing, inventory management and claims resolution.
• Generate and present new opportunities within the cut flower assortment. 
• Work with Ball Ingenuity team to evaluate profitability of working with third party breeders’ experimentals, manage trialing, licensing and establishing supply chain.
• Work with BSC Marketing Manager to achieve results and a strong bottom line.
• Travel to key trade shows, supplier visits, and trial/open houses.
• And any other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

Requirements

• Must have an Associates degree, Bachelor's degree is preferred. 
• Three years horticultural experience focused in cut flowers
• PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Office experience required.  Previous SAP experience is a bonus. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to analyze data to make determination. Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and proven ability to take various pieces of information, organize them and draw conclusions.
• Collaborates- works cooperatively with others across the organization and supply network to meet shared objectives. 
• Action oriented – taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.

Travel:

• Travel to trials, production sites and rooting stations 20%
• Travel to Trade Shows 5%

Salary Range: $65-75k

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to sit/stand 100% of the day  
• Ability to use hands/fingers – all day for typing, writing  and assembling material
• Ability to work in outdoor setting, hot and humid environment, greenhouse environment, and office setting.
