GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Proofread and edit transcribed notes from outside vendors and those generated via Dragon dictation and other Platforms, making corrections as needed. Verify the accuracy of billing information and ensure it is correctly documented. Post finalized information to the electronic medical record (EMR). Complete any missed or outstanding dictation in a timely manner.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Accurately document patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, surgical procedures, and follow-up instructions.
  • Proofread and edit notes/documents for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and accuracy.
  • Type missed dictations and corrections as needed.
  • Create X-ray reports based on physician dictations and patient information.
  • Send completed notes and reports to Primary Care Physicians and other relevant medical professionals.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of patient information at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple transcription assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Utilize transcription software and tools to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
  • Communicate with medical staff to verify and clarify any unclear information or terminology.
  • All other duties assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Certification in Medical Transcription (CMT or RMT) is preferred but not required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical transcription, ideally within an orthopedic or healthcare setting. Familiarity with orthopedic terminology and procedures is a plus.
  • Proficiency with transcription tools (e.g., Dragon Medical) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Experience with X-ray report creation is beneficial.
