Residential Maintenance Technician - Towson Multifamily

Position Summary

As a Maintenance Technician at The Bernstein Companies you play a vital role in maintaining the quality and safety of our residential and commercial properties across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. You will help uphold “People First” philosophy by ensuring our communities remain clean, well-maintained, and welcoming for residents, tenants, and guests.

  Key Responsibilities

· Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and appliance repairs.

· Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests and emergencies, including participating in after-hours on-call rotations.

· Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to maintain TBC’s high standards.

· Maintain common areas, amenities, and grounds-including trash removal, landscaping, and snow/ice removal as needed.

· Document work performed, manage inventory of supplies, and ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations.

· Collaborate with property management and other team members on special projects and unit turnovers.

· Communicate courteously with residents, staff, vendors, and contractors, reflecting TBC’s commitment to service and professionalism.

Requirements

Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school preferred.

· 2+ years of relevant maintenance experience, ideally in property or community management.

· Broad knowledge of building systems: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs.

· Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., perform physical tasks (bending, climbing, kneeling), and work indoors/outdoors in various conditions.

· Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

· HVAC certification and CFC certification or relevant trade license strongly preferred. 

· Experience with property management or maintenance software.
