About the role
Based in our Glasgow office, the Solution Consultant is responsible for the design, development, documentation, testing, implementation, and support of all Kinsmen Group solutions.
What you'll do

- Works directly with internal teams and customers to define system requirements.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of project documentation, including, but not limited to, Functional Specifications, System Design Specifications, Installation Procedures, Data Migration Plans, Test Plans and Test Scripts as necessary.
- Designs, configures, develops and unit tests client components and server components according to project specifications.
- Works with the Solution Architect to ensure system design is technically sound, and for assistance with technical issues.
- Is responsible for providing all information, tools, software, and assistance required to install and system test the implemented solution.
- Participates in quality assurance activities, as necessary.
- Supports the configuration and delivery of customer demonstrations as necessary.
- Installs and configures solutions in client environment.
- Prepares training materials and may perform training to end-users and system administrators.
- Prepares data migration tools and load sheets.
- Performs data migration of customer legacy data.
- Reviews and provides input to project documentation, including but not limited to, project estimates, the Project Plan, Project Schedule, and the ongoing Project Log.
- Performs code reviews submitted by other team members to ensure adherence to standards.
- Keeps the project manager apprised on the status of assigned tasks, all key customer communications, and all issues that arise.
- Provides technical support to customers, including troubleshooting and defect resolution, and answering questions by users and administrators.
- Adheres to Kinsmen Group’s standards and defined methodologies, as defined in standard operating procedures and programming guidelines.
- Completes tasks on schedule or ahead of schedule and completes tasks within budget.
- Delivers high-quality projects which contain minimal defects.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations concerning Kinsmen Group’s operating procedures.
- Research technical solutions, products, and alternatives, and provides recommendations.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated.
- Must be a team player.
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Suitable qualifications or experience related to computer software or application development.
- Minimum of 1-year experience with one of the following programming languages, or equivalent:
- Visual Basic Scripting language (VBScript)
- Visual Basic
- C#
- Java
- JavaScript
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Access, Windows Server (2012+), Windows (7, 10), SharePoint
- Experience in requirements gathering and analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to train others and perform demonstrations.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel overnight up to 20 percent of the time.
- Familiarity with Web Development (IIS, .NET) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Documentum and/or FileNet advantageous.
- Experience with Oracle and SQL-Server is advantageous.
- Experience of M-Files, BlueCielo Meridian, Radial Viewport, McLaren Enterprise, CADAC Organic advantageous.
- Experience in Engineering Information Management or Document Management systems advantageous.
