Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Institutional Securities Group (ISG) Aligned Operations partners closely with Sales and Trading to develop and implement new products and services as well as drive efficiency and reduce risk in our processes. At all times we are focused on delivering quality service to clients both internal and external. ISG Aligned Operations partners closely with Shared Services and Banking Operations as well as Branch Operations and Operations Risk & Regulatory Control to deliver a connected 'front to back' view of operations to ISG Sales and Trading.
Collateral Operations team provides collateral calculations and exposure monitoring for clients based across the globe. This team is responsible for all aspects of collateral monitoring and works closely with the regional business unit risk managers, sales, operations and documentation groups. The team performs margin calculation based on the margin documents and to ensure that the exposures are within the defined comfort levels so as to minimize the Firm's exposure to counterparty and market risk. .
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor data feeds and pre margin call issuance checks to ensure they are performed in line with SLAs
- Perform various control activities to ensure that the exposures are properly captured and monitored in the systems
- Perform day-to-day supervision of margining process to ensure margin calculations are in accordance with the policies set
- Respond to enquiries from internal and external parties on collateral activities and resolve complex problems
- Participate in global initiatives and projects to improve existing controls and streamline the margin calculation process
- Work with IT and global counterparts on system enhancements and continuous development of margin infrastructure
- All people management aspects of the team including individual performance management, team building, succession planning, cross-training
- Client relationship management, both internal and external
- Setting the strategy in partnership with the business and technology partners
- Driving the industry. An expectation that the candidate will be able to actively participate in industry level discussion relating to regulatory reform within the Collateral space
- Risk management focusing on daily exposures, fails management, accurate books and records
- Active use of control reports, KRIs and KPIs
- Regular evaluation/improvement of control environment
- Introduce greater automation in processes through management, execution and delivery of Transformation initiatives.
- Drive global consistency in process, risk and management tools Skills Required (Essential)
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years of relevant working experience
- Good understanding of financial products, including equity/fixed income OTC derivatives
- High level of integrity and able to work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, being able to communicate clearly and concisely, moderating style and delivery to suit different parties and media
- Can organize themselves efficiently, keep track of multiple outstanding items and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to step back from the detail and question processes and controls
- Can work well under pressure, lending control and order to a difficult or pressurized situation
- Can deal easily with multiple issue and tasks
- Experienced in delegation, organizational and people management
- Ability to recognize risk issues and implications
- Knows when to ask questions before taking action and when to escalate
- Is a self-starter who takes individual ownership for work quality and improvement
- Shows initiative and creativity, taking a long-term approach to improvement and resolution of issues
