Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the payroll team.
  • Monitor the execution and completion of payroll duties.
  • Provide support, training, and development to foster performance and growth within the payroll team.
  • Align team efforts and standards, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Develop work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines.
  • Identify and recommend improvement opportunities and ensure alignment with operational needs.
  • Oversee the completion of the full cycle, in-house payroll processing in a timely and effective manner on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Support, monitor, and audit timekeeping to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate wage calculations.
  • Manage weekly payroll functions, including garnishments tracking and auditing time-off accruals in accordance with all Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).
  • Prepare reports and reconciliations for collective bargaining unit processing, including weekly and monthly union dues collection and payment.
  • Provide support and effectively communicate with HR, managers, and employees regarding inquiries related to payroll, benefit deductions, and taxes.
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by ensuring policies and procedures are documented timely and fully executed by the team.
  • Complete quarter and year end specific reporting requirements mandated by individual states, which can include state income tax withholdings, unemployment insurance contributions, workers' compensation documentation, and compliance with state-specific wage laws like minimum wage and overtime regulations.
  • Oversee all quarterly and year end processing, including tax filings. 
  • Prepare payroll related reports and reconciliations for various purposes.
  • Perform data entry, data management, and data audits within UKG and Workforce Management.

  • Additional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned

                Preferred Education/Experience

                • 5+ years of recent payroll experience required
                • 5+ years of management experience preferred
                • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite and excel skills
                • Collective Bargaining Unit payroll
                • Knowledge of UKG PRO and Workforce Management system

                Critical Skills and Expertise

                • Working knowledge of state, federal and local tax regulations, and laws.
                • Ability to relate to, lead, influence and coach team members within department.
                • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment meeting deadline with accuracy and timeliness, independently and with a team.
                • Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
                • Strong math, organizational and analytical skills.
                • Must have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
                • Must have high attention to detail, and ability to guard highly confidential and sensitive information.
