Job Description
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness, safety and functionality of the organization’s physical infrastructure. This role oversees custodial operations, coordinates with the maintenance and safety departments, organizes vendors and contractors, manages special facility projects, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. The Facilities Supervisor plays a key role in creating a safe, clean, and productive environment for employees and visitors while leading strategic initiatives to improve facility efficiency and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, schedule, and support custodial staff to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Monitor facility status and work order ticketing system for timing response to critical issues and on-time response to routine tasks.
- Manage external vendor/contractor relationships for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, construction, dock and door repairs, vehicle repair and maintenance, access control, property management, machinery, PIT, cardboard bailers, etc., and other facility-related project execution needs.
- Manage external service contracts for maintenance, landscaping, janitorial, trash, street sweeping, compressed air, fire suppression, locks, surveillance, security and alarms, air filtration, and other facility-related services.
- Coordinate and oversee special facility improvement projects, including but not limited to room construction and office remodeling, equipment and racking installation, roofing and parking lot repairs, flooring replacement, and space reconfigurations.
- Manage permit applications and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage disposal of hazardous waste, general waste, red-tag equipment, and other periodic waste streams.
- Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and equipment; manage procurement as needed.
- Monitor and manage facility budgets, including forecasting and cost control.
- Management of Capital Expenditure processes, including planning, project definition, financial rationalization, approval tracking, risk management, procurement and contracting, and project closing.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and resolve facility issues.
- Collaborate with internal departments to support operational needs and special events.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and permits.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in facilities management or building operations.
- Prior supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, and basic facility management software.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible hours as needed.
Working Conditions:
- On-site role with occasional travel to other locations or off-hours work for special projects or emergencies.
- May involve physical activity such as walking, climbing ladders, or lifting up to 50 lbs.
Additional Information
Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $82,000 USD - $90,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
