Job Description

Location: Proximity-based (within 2 hours ground travel from Europol HQ, The Hague)

Duration: Initial 12 months (200 working days), with optional extensions up to 3 years total

Start Date: Between 08/09/2025 and 13/10/2025

Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week, standard working days)

Key Responsibilities:

• Devise, evolve and maintain the architecture of the core ICT infrastructure services, including the ICT storage infrastructure, virtualisation solutions, including client and server virtualisation, and operating systems;
• Devise, evolve and maintain the baseline network and communications architecture, including telephony, WAN, connectivity services, network management, physical facilities hosting the infrastructure, hardware, networking systems software;
• Devise, evolve and maintain the architecture of mobility solutions;
• Identify and specify ICT infrastructure components, providing guidance and review for their implementation and configuration, at an appropriate level of detail agreed with engineering teams;
• Drive the evaluation and selection of the technical products that are required to implement the ICT infrastructure architecture;
• Write and maintain ICT infrastructure technical standards & guidelines for the organisation;
• Assess business cases, project proposals, and project deliverables, to determine the impact on, and compliance with, the ICT infrastructure architecture, including sizing and capacity planning considerations;
• Produce, maintain, update, disseminate and expand the set of baseline architecture documentation, including the landscape of ICT infrastructure solutions and their respective roadmaps aligned with the business strategy on one side and with the IT evolution on the other side;
• Be responsible for product management of core ICT infrastructure solutions (e.g. ICT networks, ICT virtualisation/mobility solutions and the ICT storage platform);
• Work in project teams in Prince II or SCRUM led projects;
• Assist engineering teams during complex incidents;
• Provide strategic advice to management on demand or unsolicited.

Team & Collaboration:

Work within Europol’s ICT architecture and business analysis team. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, developers, and external partners.

Profile Requirements:

Seniority Level (one of):

• 4+ years university degree + 9 years relevant experience, OR
• 3+ years university degree + 10 years relevant experience

Security Requirements:

• EU Confidential Security Clearance (to be obtained within 12 weeks of start), so only EU candidates are eligible to apply.
• Certificate of Good Conduct: Required (not older than 3 months)

Delivery Mode:

• Contractor’s or subcontractor’s premises (including locations allowed under its policies, e.g. consultants’ home office) located within 2 hours of ground travel from Europol’s main premises in The Hague.
• In principle, at the start of services a period of 1 week of onboarding will take place onsite at the Europol Premises. Further, Europol may request regular or ad hoc presence on Europol Premises up to 5 separate or consecutive (full) working days per month.
