Primary Scheduled Hours: Nights, 12 hour shifts, 72  hours per pay period 

 

Job Summary: Provides respiratory assessment, support, treatment or diagnostic test for acute care, emergency room or outpatient as needed.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide emergency care, such as artificial respiration, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Monitor patient's physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, or blood chemistry changes, and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.
  • Obtains ABGs, EKGs and other testing as appropriate.
  • Set up and operate devices, such as, high flow oxygen, Bipap, mechanical ventilators, environmental control systems, or aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment.
  • Support clinical team regarding area of expertise through training or instruction.
  • Work as part of a team of physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals to manage patient care by assisting with medical procedures or related duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients' pertinent identification and therapy information.
  • Documenting, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form to maintain patient records.

 

Education Background and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education:

Associate degree required from an Accredited Respiratory Care Program

Required Licensure / Certifications:

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (NBRC) to be kept up to date, Respiratory Therapist WA license, BLS, ACLS/PALS/NRP within 90 days

Required Experience:

Critical Care Experience

  • Maintain regulatory requirements
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.
  • Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
