Job Description

Working closely with the Registered Dietitian and other members of the healthcare team to provide nutritional care to low and moderate risk patients. Services provided include patient visitation, nutrition screening/assessment, teaching/education, data collection, preference/allergy monitoring, food record collection/calculation and special projects.  You will act as a liaison between Dietetics, patients/families, acute/chronic care medical units and the Nutrition Services department for the provision of patient-centered nutritional care.  The Diet Technician is also responsible for collecting, assessing, and inputting patient specific information into the Computrition-Hospitality Suite software to ensure the provision of appropriate and accurate patient specific meals, consistent with the diet order prescribed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) accredited diploma program or a 4 yr Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics, preferred  
  • Current active member of CSNM or eligible membership upon hire
  • Minimum one year experience in a hospital setting, an asset
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical nutrition in the context of disease management 
  • Experience with developing and applying nutrition care plans for diverse patient populations, an asset
  • Self-directed with strong critical thinking skills and ability to handle complex situations
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
  • Demonstrates an ability to independently and collaboratively prioritize and manage workload
  • Works effectively both independently and in a team environment 
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Computrition/Hospitality Suite and Meditech Expanse (or comparable computer software programs)
  • Demonstrates a caring, respectful and professional approach

Additional Information

Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating 8 and 12 hours shifts; 6:00am-6:00pm and 8:00am-4:00pm (subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary:  $31.409 to $36.205 per hour
