Job Description

To design and implement Reconciliations and Settlements strategic plans for Africa Regions to improve the maturity and operational processes, in order to mitigate risk to the organisation. Build a repository of frameworks, standards, guidelines and associated collateral for continuous improvement in the execution of reconciliations and settlement across Africa Regions which are aligned to industry best practice and drive adoption thereof. Support in complex remediation of reconciliations.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Law, Business Commerce, Finance and Accounting or related

Experience:

• 8-10 years: Experience within Banking Operations environment
• 10 years: Expert knowledge and experience at a financial institution, including an understanding of Payments products, processes, and procedures. Knowledge of the foreign exchange market and processing cross border payments, as well as an understanding of the risks associated with managing transactions in multiple jurisdictions. Relevant reconciliation experience and a thorough understanding of systems, processes, and procedures to perform and manage recons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the delivery of strategic initiatives for Settlements and Reconciliations to drive business transformation, business process improvement, productivity, and capacity optimisation.
• Manage and drive engagements with service providers, 3rd party associations and other industry stakeholders to continuously improve standards, methods, frameworks, patterns and guidelines aligned to Settlements and Reconciliations.
• Identify, investigate, and report trends and anomalies to Senior Stakeholders/relevant Boards to ensure the required remedial action has been taken and advise on recommended best practices to be adopted and monitor accordingly.
• Implement the relevant Risk Management standards and policies within the Reconciliations practice and monitor execution to ensure alignment of risk management processes, procedures, frameworks, methods and tools to standards and policies as well as regulatory requirements.
• Contribute, by providing specialised subject matter expertise input into technology plans, providing domain expertise to develop the relevant technological requirements, ensuring adherence to the relevant technology (IT) standards.
