As Griffith embarks on an exciting period of change, we’re seeking a proactive Data Engineer to help power the evolution of our Data and Analytics Platforms. This is a prime opportunity to sharpen your technical skills, expand your career, and make meaningful contributions to a cloud-first future.
Reporting to the Product Manager for Data and Analytics Platforms, you will join an experienced and collaborative Data Engineering team. This is an opportunity to contribute to our cloud data warehouse migration while gaining access to custom upskilling and training as part of our journey toward modernizing Griffith’s data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and document legacy data pipelines, including prototypes, and support solution design for the new cloud platform
- Conduct testing and validation of migrated workloads
- Design, develop, and implement cloud-based data warehouse solutions
- Collaborate across teams to shape scalable and reliable data platform solutions
- Provide technical expertise, support, and insights for modern data architecture
- Communicate effectively with leadership regarding data technologies, usage patterns, project priorities, and timelines
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL (PL/SQL and T-SQL)
- Strong grasp of ETL/ELT pipeline design and dimensional modelling
Highly Valued Experience:
- Python for scripting and automation
- DevOps tools and principles
- Azure technologies (Database, Data Lake, Dedicated SQL Pool)
- Synapse Analytics
- Solid understanding of data warehousing principles
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen
About You
You are an independent thinker and a collaborative problem-solver, comfortable working across teams and engaging with stakeholders at all levels. You’ll bring:
- A degree in a relevant field or proven industry experience in data engineering
- A drive to work autonomously and within dynamic teams
Candidates must have full unrestricted Australian work rights and may be subject to a National criminal history check.
What we can offer
This is a fixed term opportunity until 31st December 2026 and will be based at Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.
HEW 8 Salary - base range - $113,713.03 - $127,923.91 + 17% super. Full package range - $133,044.25 - $149,670.98.
