The role:

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, Asia-Pacific, the Appointee will be leading the growth of Mission Systems capabilities in Japan, working with our existing team. For this individual contributor role, the Appointee should have a thorough understanding of Japan’s defense procurement processes and be comfortable interacting with the Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD), Mutual Defense Assistance Office (“MDAO”), Acquisition Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA), the different military services, and the heavy industries (OEM).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Identification, Qualification, and prospect Generation: Present the capabilities to the customer/end-users and prepare an internal business case to obtain approval from the value stream leaders to pursue the opportunity.
  • Prioritize and rank key opportunities for proactive prospecting.
  • Maintain up-to-date information about a pursuit in Salesforce.
  • Customer Interface focal for Embassy, MDAO, JMOD, ATLA, Government agencies, and local Primes.​
  • Knowledge of budget cycles, CONOPS, acquisition process/priorities/timing, high-level MIRs industrial landscape, competitors, offsets, stakeholder management plans, organizational changes, and hierarchy​.
  • MiS Tradeshow lead for local defence shows and association engagements​
  • Consistently support portfolio strategy with inputs, including order forecasting​
  • Leverage relationships in government, military organizations, representatives, and industry to ensure Mission Systems engages with key stakeholders.
  • Closely work with and manage designated third parties.
  • Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships with prospective accounts to influence opportunities and expand the value Mission Systems can provide.
  • Represent Mission Systems at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Champion Pursuit Order Capture Process: This person will be responsible for the growth of the assigned Mission Systems portfolios and should have the ability to lead all aspects of Pursuit, Order Capture process including, but not limited to operational analysis, military doctrine, price to Win analysis, contact plan, strategy development and execution, color team reviews, timely/accurate forecasting of orders, for both direct commercial sales and foreign military sales.
  • Serve as an internal customer advocate by identifying common needs/opportunities across the Mission Systems portfolio.
  • Guide Mission Systems in government procurement and acquisition processes and gather intelligence to develop strategies for business development activities of Mission Systems in Japan.
  • Collaborate with other RTX business units as required to ensure Mission Systems are offered as part of in-country RTX bids.
  • The person will regularly interact with senior level Collins management (VP, Directors, etc) and must be comfortable / versed with developing and delivering senior level presentations.
  • Ensure the establishment and development of professional relationships with strategic prospects to understand and meet customer needs within the contracted scope.
