Patient Transporter - Canton Potsdam Hospital (Per Diem)

Schedule: 12 hour shifts as needed, variable days, weekends holidays, 7 am to 7:30 pm
 

SUMMARY:

The Imaging Support Assistant is responsible for transporting patients to and from inpatient units and the Imaging Department while supporting clinical operations through administrative and logistical tasks. This includes calling to confirm appointments, managing patient orders and imaging schedules (MRI, CT, NM), restocking department supplies, maintaining oxygen tanks, and assisting at the front desk as needed. The role requires familiarity with systems such as Meditech, eCW, Synapse, and other workflow platforms.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Transports patients between inpatient units and the Imaging Department safely and efficiently while adhering to infection prevention and patient handling standards.

• Confirms patient appointments via phone, verifies imaging orders, and reviews modality-specific schedules to ensure workflow accuracy.

• Maintains inventory by restocking supplies, placing monthly Sywest orders, and ensuring all O₂ tanks are filled and functional in coordination with maintenance.

• Provides administrative support by covering the front desk as needed, greeting patients, and assisting with scheduling or patient check-in processes.

• Uses electronic systems including Meditech, eCW, Synapse, and scanning tools to manage orders, schedules, and patient information effectively.

• Supports departmental communication and coordination, ensuring timely and professional interactions with patients and clinical teams.
   

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification within 3 months of hire
   

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Medical terminology

• One year of experience in healthcare

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE:

$17.74 - $25.22

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
