Position Title: Trails Inspector Site Lead

The City of Peoria Parks and Recreation Department is seeking interested individuals to survey and inspect more than 18 miles of multi-use walking, jogging, hiking, cycling and horseback riding trails, in addition to 30+ miles of mountain hiking/biking trails.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hiking trails to collect an inventory of trail-maintenance needs.
  • Performing general grounds cleaning and trail clearing.
  • Assisting with loose trash pickup and other light custodial work during inspections.
  • Providing administrative functions such as reporting, documenting and updating the status of work orders
  • Ability to utilize GIS technology in mapping and completion of software-based projects.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school graduation or equivalency.

Experience:

  • 6-12 months of moderate previous experience required in the same or similar position.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • A valid AZ driver license required upon hire.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated and able to work both individually and with a team with an understanding of common techniques, methods, practices, procedures, use of forms, routines, etc., of an intermediate nature.
  • Safety conscious, punctual team player with a high work ethic, with the flexibility to act cross-functionally when the Department's workload demands.
  • Interested in a flexible part-time schedule with an estimated 20 hours per week.
  • Open to schedules that vary depending on assignment and could include nights and weekends.
  • The ability to work with volunteers and lead community projects.
