Position Purpose: The Hospice Secretary provides clerical support to department management and staff to ensure that designated tasks are completed in a timely manner and office processes flow smoothly.
Hours/Shift: Full-time/Days - 8:00a - 5:00p M-F

Key Responsibilities: Review and process all account files and editor on the day they are received. Ensure accurate and timely billing of all Hospice patient accounts; ensure accurate and complete billing information are entered in the electronic billing record. Consistently identify and resolve billing discrepancies to ensure and expedite compliance and reimbursement, audit and track billing issues through the unbilled reports on a weekly basis. Ensure an organized, complete, and functional medical record is available to staff at all times. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of Hospice rules and regulations. Assist with coordination of referrals. Consistently demonstrate the ability to assess a situation from a variety of perspectives; consider alternatives and chooses the appropriate course of action. Ensures that all office processes flow smoothly and efficiently. Assist Hospice Office Coordinator with designated department tasks; complete designated tasks when the Hospice Coordinator is not in the office. Safeguard the public relations of the department by exhibiting consistent, professional conduct. Maintain confidentiality of information and compliance with all Federal, State, organizational, and departmental regulations and policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent
- Skills: Position requires the ability to sit 70-80% of shift, occasionally lift to 10 pounds, and carry small objects. Ability to use various technological hardware and software (i.e. computers, phones, copiers, MS Office, Word, and Excel); manage multiple office procedures, processes, and resources in an organized manner; have effective interpersonal skills and deliver customer service excellence.
