CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Documentation, Information Management, and Campaigns Officer will be tasked with gathering data and content vital for communications, advocacy and campaigns products and strategies, including donor communications and requirements. S/he will play a key role in ensuring the ACCM department is up to date with the contextual and programmatic developments that are relevant to its mission. The role requires regular travel around Lebanon.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Communications, Social Media, and Campaigns Coordinator
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
CONTENT:
- Interviews children, youth and adults in the field for different purposes, including donor communications, campaigns, moments, or ad hoc requests;
- Transcripts and translates interviews and collects relevant information to be used in blogs, videos, articles, documentaries and other communication products;
- Works with field colleagues and communications focal points from different partners regularly to research and identify human-interest stories that give voice to children and vulnerable groups and highlight Save the Children’s work to provide support.
- Contributes with content (stories, research) to regular campaigns and advocacy work as per timeline or as requested.
RESEARCH:
- Provides well-researched content for policy briefs and advocacy position papers, including background information, problem diagnosis, and real-life testimonies;
- Prepare tables and figures related to information needed using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software;
- Performs literature searches, reviews content, and prepares written summaries;
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT:
- Maintains strong relationship with communications departments across partner NGOs and stakeholder offices to ensure information-sharing;
- Monitors and prepares tracking documents on policy issues when requested;
- Collects inputs for the Monthly Sitrep and helps colleagues provide the best input to inform Member offices and donors;
- Fact-checks and provides other assistance to senior staff in the preparation of background papers, meeting presentations or other documents.
- Extracts content for social media and other purposes using existing documents and reports.
- Ensures information management systems are up to date, including Content Hub.
CAMPAIGN:
- Collaborate with relevant functions in the Country Office, especially the Child Rights Governance team, to support the development and implementation of child-led campaigns on the field and national levels.
- Work proactively with partners, technical experts, and stakeholders to achieve joint campaign objectives.
- Provide regular updates to the ACCM team and relevant departments on campaign progress, ensuring alignment and consistency.
- Enhance humanitarian storytelling by commissioning and collecting compelling case studies, accompanied by photography and videography, to support campaign objectives.
- Track the use of campaign materials by members and stakeholders, evaluating the success and impact of campaigns.
OTHER:
- Takes part in Communications and Documentation training for focal points.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Media, Journalism, research or any related field
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Strong skills turning information and data into a story that can be told
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism are crucial
- Familiarity with Microsoft softwares (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong verbal and communications skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Strong prioritisation skills and ability to multi-task
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Desired: photography skills, writing skills
