Role Summary
The Regional Customer Project Manager role sits within the Volkswagen Group of America’s Autonomous Driving, Mobility, & Transport (ADMT) business unit. ADMT is currently preparing for the commercial launch of its SAE Level 4 autonomous mobility and transport business in the U.S.
The Regional Customer Project Manager is responsible for managing and driving local delivery through engaging with local internal and external stakeholders while closely collaborating with counterparts in Europe. In this role, you’ll act as the face of the company to local customers—building trust, managing key accounts, solving problems, and driving customer satisfaction, retention, and loyalty. You will work cross-functionally to ensure seamless and personalized customer experience while identifying opportunities for growth and improvement. You will be part of the project core team and is close collaboration with the Customer Project Manager.
Responsibilities include understanding local customer needs, coordinating internal resources for optimal service delivery, and ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction through proactive communication, careful planning, and timely issue resolution. This position collaborates cross-functionally with Business Development, Product, and Operations teams. Additional duties include tracking engagement history, analyzing market trends, identifying upselling and cross-selling opportunities, and representing our brand at local customer events to strengthen community presence.
Role Responsibilities:
Customer Enablement & Delivery Success – 50%
- Act as the point of contact for customer, build positive relationships to foster strong collaboration with leadership and key stakeholders, understand their business context, challenges and needs to ensure project success
- Supports the creation and planning of the customer program milestones and timelines in close collaboration with key external & internal teams for various stages of city rollouts including development, go-live, expansion, and renewal phases. Takes responsibility for the owned work streams
- Own responsibility for on-site-related project delivery including understanding of and collaboration with customers and local stakeholders (business partners, regulators, other authorities)
- Plan and moderate regular reviews with detailed activity and planning milestone updates; also coordinate and support product/technical meetings or workshops for the owned workstreams
- Facilitate, track, and ensure customer requests, issues, or other feedback are communicated to proper internal team members across various workstreams and be accountable for timely responses
- Regularly visit customer facility locations to assess status of operations and program delivery Establish and refine over time overall customer contract delivery management process; develop deep understanding of contractual obligations across both parties and ensure internal stakeholders are clearly informed to support delivery of customer requirements
- Develop issue tracking management reporting and engage in resolution strategy & implementation
- Facilitate and support overall development of customer KPI target setting, reporting and monitoring processes; ensure action plans are developed with project & program managers to meet or exceed KPI targets
Internal Project Planning & Coordination – 50%
- Coordinate with dedicated customer project and technical program managers in Germany on various workstreams
- Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships to various functional leads (e.g. Comms, Government Affairs, Legal, Ops, Safety, Training, Vehicle Sales/Aftersales, Product, IT, Finance) supporting overall program delivery, aligning key program plan updates and customer requirements
- Work with Operations Delivery Manager and Product Owners to ensure agreed upon deliverables are met and communicate customer/operator requests for new product features
- Assist in creating project management tasks in JIRA and assigning to proper internal functional stakeholders
- Routinely develop and present leadership updates to organizational committees, inclusive of issues, escalation points, and strategic recommendations
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’S Degree
MBA or Masters, or equivalent graduate certification preferred

Specialized Skills:
Required:
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset
- Experience in working with large B2B account customers
- Knowledge and demonstrated work experience with statements of work (SOWs)
- Proven collaboration with internal teams (Business Development, Product Legal, Communication, Regulatory, Operations) to ensure excellent service delivery
Desired:
- Deep understanding of mobility, transportation, and autonomous driving industry, including operational complexities in deploying L4 electric vehicles
- Experience working with large, complex B2B strategic accounts, top-tier or high value customers with extensive U.S. footprint
- Cross Collaboration with Program Management and various teams in Germany
- Technical and business knowledge of autonomous vehicle operations and automotive industry vertical
- In-depth and hands-on experience managing customer programs from contract signing to delivery of product
- Monitor local market trends and customer feedback to provide insights and recommendations to leadership
Work Flexibility:
- Accommodation for working time zone differences between international locations as needed
- Travel is estimated to be 10%.
- Role requires flexibility in daily schedule, including early morning meetings with Europe, evenings for the West Coast.
In Silicon Valley (California), the salary range for this role will be $155,000 - $185,000, depending on education and years of relevant experience. Salary is determined by geographical location and adjusted accordingly. Other benefits for this position include:
