This position is a member of our Water Supply Division.

 

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Participate in moderately complex development, review, maintenance and management of databases/methods for reporting Public Drinking Water data for the Water Supply Division of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Assist with the management of projects using appropriate project management techniques and standards. Track time and effort on each project and keep all documentation current. Identify potential risks and prepare contingency plans.
  • Participate in the moderately complex development of and adherence to quality assurance standards and processes.
  • Aide with the moderately complex analysis, design, modification, and development of reports, queries, and migrations for data sets using various databases, software tools, and network connections as needed by Water Supply Division.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of improved software maintenance and development processes, including requirements gathering, configuration management, testing, quality assurance, peer review, and technical solutions. Monitor the interface of systems, subsystems, and software applications. Perform test activities and evaluate results.
  • Communicate with customers, staff, management, and consultants to gather and disseminate information.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience coordinating and/or managing data related projects using appropriate project management practices.
  • Experience with developing and documenting business and quality assurance standards processes.
  • Experience developing reports in software such as Crystal Reports, Power BI, etc.
 

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of full-time experience in systems administration, business process analysis and modeling, application development, or system and application design.

OR

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or technical college with a major in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics or a related field.

OR

Completion of 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics or a related field plus one year of the required experience.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2).  Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Systems Analyst II state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Systems Analyst II series.

 

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Supply Division.
