Job Description

TRAINING OFFICER - 20057070 - CUYAHOGA COUNTY, GARFIELD HTS.

What You Will Do:

  • Train employees to obtain their CDL A or B license.
  • Training in classroom settings and/or on various sites throughout the district.
  • Public speaking (i.e., speaking in front of employees to provide training)
  • Train employees to run various pieces of equipment. 
  • May be required to work various hours to accommodate the district's needs. (i.e., training the night shift) 
  • Plans, schedules & conducts training programs (e.g., schedules employees to attend sessions; schedules teachers to 
    conduct sessions; prepares materials & teaches sessions; conducts workshops; reviews & revises training materials, 
    coordinates division promotional displays & materials)

Qualifications

6 courses in human resources, education, sociology, or psychology

-or 18 mos exp in preparing informational or instructional programs; 18 mos trg or 18 mos exp in public speaking or effective communications skills; 3 mos trg or 3 mos exp in operating audio-visual equipment.

ALL ANSWERS TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUPPORTED BY THE WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PROVIDED ON YOUR CIVIL SERVICE APPLICATION.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one-year probationary period.

The selection process for this position will include a structured interview.  Candidate responses to the interview questions will be scored and the selection will be made in accordance with the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.

The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment, per section 3719.01 & 3719.41 of Ohio revised code.
