Position: PRN Registration Specialist
Department: Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
Location: Fishers MOB – Orthopedics Department (with travel to multiple locations)
Schedule: At least 16 hours per month; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Summary
The Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is seeking a flexible and dependable PRN Registration Specialist to support patient registration and front office operations across multiple clinic locations. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out, while maintaining accuracy in financial and demographic data.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Reception & Check-In
Greet patients and verify pre-registration details.
Update appointment locations in Cerner.
Scan insurance cards and photo IDs.
Manage and distribute necessary paperwork.
Clinic Opening Duties (as needed)
Arrive early to prepare the clinic environment.
Turn on lights and TVs, unlock doors, check faxes, and retrieve records/referrals.
Check-Out & Scheduling
Schedule follow-up appointments and provide appointment cards.
Contact patients for rescheduling as needed.
Administrative Support
Monitor and clear work queues.
Respond to front office messages.
Scan and manage medical records and documents.
Clinic Closing Procedures (as needed)
Ensure all patients are checked out.
Tidy the waiting area, power down equipment, and secure the clinic.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
Ability to learn and retain medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) preferred.
Understanding of insurance information and clinical practices.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Other Requirements:
Flexibility to work across multiple locations.
Minimum availability of 16 hours per month.
Strong reliability, punctuality, and customer service orientation.
