  • Provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders, drawing on deep experience to support commercial decision-making and smooth procurement processes.
  • Resolve complex contractual disputes and liaise with external law firms and vendors as needed.
  • Identify knowledge gaps across the business and create training opportunities to build legal capability.
  • Exercise independent judgment and maintain a pragmatic, collaborative approach to protect UniSuper’s legal interests.
  • Represent UniSuper with persuasive advocacy, ensuring fair outcomes and minimising time spent on legal issues.
  • Support senior leaders and governance bodies with legal insights, while mentoring junior legal team members and contributing to a high-performance culture.

About You

You are a passionate legal professional with deep knowledge of commercial and contract law, ideally with experience in superannuation and trust law. Furthermore, you will have:

  • Deep expertise in commercial and contract law, with desirable knowledge of superannuation and trust law.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, draft, and advise on complex commercial agreements, especially IT-related contracts.
  • Strong advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders in-person and virtually.
  • Commercial, risk-based mindset with sound judgment and strategic decision-making aligned to UniSuper’s objectives.
  • Minimum seven years’ experience in a law firm or in-house legal function, with leadership capability and mentoring experience.
  • High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and discretion in handling sensitive legal matters.
