About the role: 

In this newly created role, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our employees are paid accurately, on time, and in line with legislative and enterprise agreement requirements. You’ll be our go-to subject matter expert for all things payroll, supporting a high-performing team while driving process improvements and compliance.

This will include: 

  • Managing end-to-end processing for fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
  • Ensuring compliance with Fair Work legislation, ATO regulations, and Enterprise Agreements.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for complex payroll and employee queries.
  • Preparing and lodging payroll tax, superannuation, and WorkCover reports.
  • Conducting payroll reconciliations, journals, and EOFY activities including STP reporting.
  • Maintaining up-to-date payroll procedures, policies, and training guides.
  • Partnering with HR and Finance to ensure data accuracy and workflow efficiency.
  • Supporting system upgrades and contribute to payroll-related projects.
  • Leading process improvement initiatives and deliver best practice payroll solutions.

About You

You are a well experienced Payroll Lead with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to collaborate effectively across teams and departments. You have a proven ability to lead and mentor team members while handling high-volume payroll in fast-paced environments. Your strong technical skills, especially your proficiency in Chris21 and Aurion payroll systems ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all aspects of payroll operations.

  • Solid experience in end-to-end payroll processing in Aurion and Chris21.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, EBAs, tax and superannuation.
  • Exceptional accuracy, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Confident in Excel and able to deliver complex payroll reporting.
  • Experience with payroll projects, audits, and compliance activities.
