Position Summary: At Westmark Credit Union, our Mortgage Loan Officers foster and sustain strong relationships with local realtors by implementing marketing initiatives and delivering presentations, enhancing Westmark’s visibility and influence within the community. In this role, you will utilize your expertise to evaluate financial data, offer tailored mortgage solutions, and support our members in achieving their homeownership goals. You will act as a trusted advisor within the real estate community, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines while delivering exceptional service. Additionally, you will be responsible for driving business growth by cultivating relationships with members and real estate professionals. This position offers unlimited earning potential through a competitive base salary and incentive structure.

Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for after-hours association meetings and events as needed.

Travel Requirements: Some local travel for outside sales and relationship building.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Member Engagement:
    Conduct thorough interviews with loan applicants, evaluate financial information, and collect required documentation to facilitate real estate loan applications.
  • Loan Processing:
    Submit loan applications to the Department Underwriter for final approval, ensuring all submissions comply with FNMA underwriting standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Member & Realtor Support:
    Maintain clear and timely communication with members and real estate agents, providing regular updates throughout the loan process.
  • Marketing & Relationship Building:
    Build and maintain strong partnerships with local realtors through marketing initiatives and presentations, reinforcing Westmark’s presence in the community.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure loans adhere to guidelines set by Fannie Mae, FHA, VA, and IHFA, maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation.
  • Team Collaboration:
    Work closely with the Real Estate team, branch employees, and other departments to foster internal referrals and deliver an outstanding member experience.

Requirements


Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending practices, underwriting standards, and FNMA guidelines.
  • Proficiency in loan processing software (e.g., Point) and financial calculators (e.g., HP-12C).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret complex financial documents, including federal tax returns.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with real estate professionals and members.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move within an office environment for extended periods.

  • Able to read documents and view screens for prolonged periods.
  • Travel required for meetings, real estate office visits, and community events.
