About the role

AGL’s Health, Safety and Environment team have an opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor

Based at Bayswater Power Station, AGL is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Advisor to join our Bayswater Power Station team. This is a compelling opportunity to champion operational safety, drive meaningful cultural improvement, and foster collaborative partnerships across all levels of the organisation.

In this dynamic role, you will be a trusted advisor to frontline teams, contractors, and leadership—empowering others through proactive engagement, coaching, and continuous development of best-practice safety standards.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the delivery of a positive, proactive safety culture focused on continuous improvement and team engagement.
  • Analyse health and safety trends, offering tailored strategies to enhance outcomes across operational functions.
  • Facilitate risk management activities including comprehensive risk assessments and safety observations under AGL’s governance framework.
  • Collaborate closely with operational personnel to align safety processes and systems for effective implementation.
  • Partner with contractors to strengthen safety practices, encourage knowledge sharing, and promote a unified approach to workplace health and safety.
  • Contribute actively to HSE and Local Operations leadership teams, ensuring compliance and delivering practical insights that elevate safety performance.

What you'll bring:

  • A positive, solutions-focused attitude with strong leadership capabilities to drive safety excellence.
  • A Diploma or higher tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated auditing and risk management experience in a complex contracting environment.
  • Proven expertise in managing and investigating complex high-risk incidents.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build trust across diverse stakeholder groups
