Reports To: Environmental Manager

Location: Toone, TN.

JOB SUMMARY

Plays a critical role in the safe management of energetic hazardous waste, universal waste, used oil waste, and non-hazardous materials. Provides oversight for maintaining environmental compliance at the main plant.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collection and storage of generated hazardous waste at the main facility
  • Collection and management of all recycling material generated at the main facility, Testing facility and local Elementary School
  • Ensure/maintain Good House Keeping in CAP Shop and all Environmental equipment and transport vehicles
  • Management of empty containers
  • Provide transport of waste from operations to waste storage areas and wash pad
  • Process wastewater drums on wash pad 
  • Provide environmental supplies to operations as needed.  
  • Destruction of ITAR Material such as inert
  • Collection and management of used oil, and Universal Waste
  • Maintain Recycle Operations Center (CAP Shop)
  • Decontamination/pressure washing of equipment brought to the wash pad
  • Daily/weekly/monthly compliance inspections as delegated by the Environmental Manager

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • N/A

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • DOT Haz-Mat, RCRA, and HAZWOPER experience highly preferred 

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must obtain forklift certification within 30 days
  • Capable of passing a physical exam for use of protective equipment such as respirators and Pyro Suit
  • Eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) 
  • Willing to work in an environment that requires a “Safety First” attitude. Must obey all Safety, Health & Environmental rules/regulations prescribed by regulatory agencies that are incorporated into company policy
  • Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • On the job training will be required

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to handle energetic and non-energetic material
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • The functions of this role are primarily performed outdoors
