We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our fun, fast-paced team based in Rangiora. If you’re keen to work across alcohol licensing, food safety, health registered premises, and thrive in a collaborative environment where no two days are the same — this could be the role for you!

About the Role

The Waimakariri District is home to over 69,000 residents and is experiencing rapid growth. With this comes increasing demand on our environmental health services. As part of our Environment Health Team within the Environment Services Unit, you’ll play a key role in supporting our community’s wellbeing.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Verifying food businesses under the Food Act 2014 and responding to food safety complaints as a Food Safety Officer
• Inspecting and reporting on alcohol licence applications under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012
• Managing health risks associated with businesses registered under the Health Act 1956

What You’ll Bring

• A diploma or degree in Environmental Health Science, or an equivalent tertiary qualification as per the Environmental Health Officers Qualifications Regulations 1992
• Strong communication and organisation skills
• A collaborative approach and ability to provide technical advice to a range of stakeholders
• A commitment to continuous learning and professional development
• Experience as a verifier, and an alcohol licensing inspector
