Description
Overview: The Director of Finance serves as a key member of the executive leadership team reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The Director of Finance is responsible for the agency’s fiscal management, and oversees and directs the organization’s Finance Department including the areas of accounting, budgeting, financial planning and reporting in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The Director of Finance also oversees the Information Technology Department. The Director of Finance will work closely with the CEO and executive leadership team and Board of Directors to provide strategic vision for the organization.
General Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with the CEO to develop financial plans and strategies that drive sustainable growth and profitability.
- Provide leadership in financial decision-making that affects the company, ensuring strategies are in place for financial stability and growth.
- Ensure comprehensive monthly reporting including metric monitoring, budgeting and cash management.
- Preparation and review of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses and tax returns.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to ensure accurate and realistic financial plans.
- Manage all accounting functions including financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls to maintain accurate and transparent financial records.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors to assure the annual audit is completed on a timely basis.
- Support the development of financial plans aimed at driving organizational growth and improving profitability, while identifying opportunities to optimize costs through financial analysis and operational insight.
- Provide financial mentorship and leadership to all departments, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development.
- Work with development team to acquire grants and assure grant financial management, reporting and compliance.
- Engage effectively with the Board of Directors, funders and various stakeholders to convey financial performance updates, address concerns and foster trust and transparency within the organization.
- Ensure the administration of the 401K, group health insurance and employee benefits plans.
- Administer organization’s insurance program assuring that appropriate risk management techniques are in place and the assets of the organization are protected.
- Supervise and support IT team
- Serves as the staff liaison to the Finance Committee.
Requirements

- Positively and actively promote the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public
- Be familiar with the mission, vision statements, and Core Values of the JCC. Model the Core Values while working and communicating with members and staff
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree Accounting or Finance. MBA or CPA desirable but not required
- Minimum five years of Management Experience in a financial setting
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and fund accounting required for non-profit organizations
- Experience in developing and implementing procedures and systems in a growing and changing organization.
- Demonstrated experience in insurance and HR compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in IT
- Professional experience in a non-profit is preferred
- Excellent team leadership skills with the ability to build relationships and motivate others toward a common vision of excellence.

- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
