Description
Job Summary
This is a responsible administrative position within the Finance Department with a wide variety of duties pertaining to accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchases orders, coordinating and planning the daily activities of the finance office, including the upkeep of financial records and handling of citizen inquiries made to the County Finance Department.
Major Essential Duties
- Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
- Support preparation of financial statements and reports
- Help gather documentation for audits and tax filings
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and relevant laws
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
- Respond to inquiries from internal staff, vendors, or external accountants
- Assist in process improvement efforts to streamline accounting workflows
- Fixed Assets tracking/recording, reporting and audit preparation
- Perform data entry and ensure accurate coding of financial transactions

Requirements
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Expertise in financial reporting, GAAP, and compliance.
- Advanced Excel and ERP systems knowledge.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Language Skills
- Good verbal skills, ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, peers, management and the general public; ability to provide clear, easily understood explanations and directions.
- Good writing skills; ability to prepare clear and concise letters, memos, report, et al
- Ability to read and comprehend written reports, letters, instructions, legal laws
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and statistics as needed.
Reasoning Skills
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of complex and technical information, and instructions. Ability to solve practical problems, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and government regulations. Ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints from the general public, business community and regulatory agencies.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Current State issued driver’s license
Other Knowledge and/or Skills
- Ability to deal fairly with coworkers, peers and management.
- Basic knowledge of management skills required planning the day’s work and organizing resources to obtain desired goals.
- Ability to work effectively daily with standard supervision.
- Advanced computer skills, proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to train individuals in the use of the computer software system, including the creation and documentation of policies and procedures within the departmental function.
- Ability to get along with others in the workplace and to respect their rights and individual abilities.
- Must be bondable
