Excavation Lead Technician

Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing, operating for over 115 years in the Puget Sound area, is looking for an experienced Excavation Lead Technician. As an Excavation Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and performing excavation operations on projects according to project specifications and deadlines. You will serve as the on-site point of contact for excavation-related tasks and coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead and supervise excavation crew to ensure efficient and safe operations
• Operate and maintain excavation equipment (e.g., backhoes, excavators, trenchers)
• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and utility maps
• Perform site prep, trenching, grading, and backfilling according to project plans
• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company policies
• Conduct pre-dig site assessments and utility locates
• Communicate daily progress, challenges, and needs with supervisors and project managers
• Train new crew members on safe equipment operation and excavation procedures
• Monitor and enforce job site cleanliness and environmental compliance
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment logs
• Attend weekly meetings as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in excavation or heavy equipment operations
• 2+ years experience in a supervisory or lead technician role preferred
• Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, equipment capabilities, and safety regulations
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site plans
• OSHA 10/30 certification preferred
• Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Neat, clean and organized
