Head of Engineering

Your mission

As the Head of Engineering at our Seed stage deep-tech startup transitioning to Series A, you will lead our small but mighty engineering and computational engineering teams to drive innovation and scale our technology globally. Your mission is to:

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of front-end, back-end, and computational engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

• Own the technology roadmap, aligning it with business goals to support multi-site global expansion and product scalability.

• Oversee the development of robust, scalable backend services using Node.js frameworks (e.g., Express.js, NestJS) and responsive, SEO-optimized frontends with React.js frameworks (e.g., Next.js).

• Ensure the design and implementation of secure, high-performance RESTful APIs and optimized SQL queries for relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, architect solutions, and deliver high-quality, maintainable code.

• Drive the adoption of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and tools like Docker and Terraform to build scalable, reliable infrastructure.

• Incorporate advanced tools like Redis or RabbitMQ for caching and asynchronous processing to enhance system performance.

• Position the engineering team as a cornerstone of our mission to innovate in AI, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.

Your profile

We are seeking a visionary and hands-on engineering leader with a proven track record of scaling technology in a fast-paced startup environment. You should have:

• 7+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing small, high-performing engineering teams.

• An active Independent contributor and Coder

• Proven expertise with Node.js frameworks (e.g., Express.js, NestJS) and React.js frameworks (e.g., Next.js).

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript, with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code.

• Extensive experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, including authentication, documentation, and performance optimization.

• Solid understanding of relational database concepts, with hands-on experience writing and optimizing SQL queries for databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Demonstrated ability to own and execute a technology roadmap, aligning technical strategy with business objectives.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and tools like Docker and Terraform for deploying and managing applications is a plus.

• Knowledge of the latest Ai tools to boost efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
