Curb appeal is crucial as it creates the first impression for customers and residents, shaping their ongoing perceptions. This role is essential for maintaining the property's curb appeal, which refers to its overall appearance from the street. The Porter must be reliable, prompt, and able to interact with residents in a friendly and professional manner. They should also be capable of following instructions and performing their duties with minimal supervision.

About this Opportunity: 

  • Position type:  Part-Time. This role requires a flexible schedule with the ability to work two weekends a month
  • Compensation:   $15.00 - $16.00 / hour, depending on experience

What we are looking for in a Porter:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 1+ years of experience is preferred
  • Multi-family experience is preferred
  • Must represent & promote our core values
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good communication skills
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks

What will you do as a Porter:

  • Keeping grounds clean and free of debris
  • Performing cleanouts of vacant apartments
  • Cleaning common areas, including the office
  • Performing various maintenance tasks such as painting, flooring, carpentry, framing, trimming, drywall and drywall finishing, concrete work, cabinetry installation, windows & door installation, and general cleaning as requested
  • Working with a variety of hand tools and power tools
  • Maintaining tools and ensuring all necessary tools are available
  • Keeping daily records and preparing written lists for maintenance needs and material requests
  • Scheduling work in cooperation with other employees, vendors, and residents
  • Assisting the refurbishment crew in improving properties for renting or sale
  • Blowing out and power washing breezeways routinely
  • Snow removal as needed
  • Cleaning up the work site at the end of the day and after completing tasks
  • Comprehending assigned tasks and following through
  • Problem-solving when unforeseen issues arise
  • Arriving at the job 10 minutes early
  • Complying with all safety regulations
