Responsibilities:

  1. Assist engineers with developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems.
  2. Perform facility surveys for network communications and make recommendations for the layout and location of network components, equipment, cabling, and wiring.
  3. Coordinate with engineers to plan new network installations or upgrades of existing networks and support other network related tasks/requirements as directed.
  4. Maintain records of work completed and in-progress; and update network documentation to record installations, upgrades and configurations.
  5. Manage projects and deliver on time with periodic status reports.
  6. Manage and coordinate installation of new data services; evaluate and test new products, network servers, operating system software, hubs, routers, switches, cabling etc.
  7. Manage the daily activities of local and wide area network systems, perform diagnostics, schedule preventative maintenance.
  8. Interact and represent Hotwire with peering and transit partners/vendors and others.
  9. Provides response to emergency work requests.
  10. Available on-call to assist with trouble tickets as needed.
  11. Other duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Associates Degree in Science or Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Science
  • Knowledge of design, configuration, installation, testing, and maintenance of wireless networks and at least 2 years’ experience in networking for Service Providers or medium-to-large Enterprises
  • Knowledge of IP Multicast and security components (Firewalls, IDS/IPS)
  • Network security experience, including firewall and IDS/IPS appliances/functions
  • Understanding of IPTV, preferably Mediaroom and video compression/distribution
  • Troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose/resolve network system problems
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex technical manuals and reference materials
  • Ability to assist with developing network security and related procedures; and assist with performing network management activities
  • A flexible and reliable team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Cisco CCNA certification is preferred
