Job Description

Purpose of the Job

Under the supervision of project officers, in collaboration with other technical teams, the Project Assistant will contribute to the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the REACH project activities especially community activities on the ground.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure community platforms for SRH, WASH/Nutrition applicable to capture results
  • Facilitate Sanitation Marketing approaches to the community
  • Facilitate to have strong community platforms and make communities SRH/WASH and Nutrition services demanding
  • Create strong  and confirmed referral system to PHCUs at the ground
  • Preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual detail implementation work plan in collaboration of project officers
  • Make sure the plan is in line with the plan of project officer and get approval in every quarter/year
  • Implementing project activity together with district health office, health facilities, health extension workers, schools representatives and other relevant project beneficiaries
  • Reviewing the implementation work plan on timely and regular bases.
  • Collecting required information from partners
  • Get approval the availability of resources to implement activities from the budget holder
  • Carry out necessary discussion to facilitate the implementation with stakeholders and partners
  • Conduct need assessment in implementation area  and provide response based on the gap
  • Identifying and selecting target beneficiaries in collaboration with partners
  • Collecting and compiling periodic reports
  • Organizing and facilitating trainings for the target group
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly review meeting with stakeholders
  • Prepare work plan, cash advance  and finance document to facilitate day to day activities at the ground
  • Work with the program accountant, M & E officer, and project officers to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in resource utilization
  • Organize and participate in review meetings, and forums with partners
  • Gather, compile, and disseminate case stories from the field
  • Effectively utilize the Amref information management system, HR information system, and other knowledge management platforms
  • Will report to the project officer
  • Undertake other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • First degree in public health, environmental health, Nursing, midwifery and other related fields
  • A minimum of one  year experience   in the related areas of SRH (WASH additionally advantageous)
  • Familiarity with the Ethiopian health care system and national RMNCAYH-N strategies
  • Team player-practical, desire to support field teams
  • Proven skill in coordinating with diverse stakeholders including governmental and NGOs 
  • Experience in community activities including community dialogues and sensitization on RMNCAYH activities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-cultural teamwork
  • Fluent spoken and written in both Afan Oromo and English; Amharic is also advantageous,
  • Excellent experience in computer skills; PPT preparation, Excel and Word documents
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and networking skills.
  • Ability to uphold and exemplify organization core values
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Previous NGO experience in related positions is advantageous
  • Local language is advantageous

Duty Station: Yabello, Borana with frequent travel to project target districts
Required number: one (1)
