Qualifications

Functions

  • Triage customer service requests by department, urgency, and response required.
  • Manage the receipt, resolution, and association of faxed prescriptions or refill requests in a computer-based document management system.
  • Handle non-clinical customer inquiries, functioning as the primary resource in handling questions from routine to complex in a fast-paced, call-center environment:
  • Answer and handle each call in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Utilize pharmacy information system and other provided resources to accurately address caller questions.
  • Ensure first-call resolution of questions/issues; effectively assess customer needs; request additional help and escalate to pharmacists or appropriate leadership as needed.
  • Research questions, issues, and concerns as directed by management.
  • Verify that order information is complete and accurate.
  • Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, research, clarify, resolve, and document order issues, questions, and missing data with facility staff in a timely manner.
  • Enter data and process new prescriptions and refills.
  • File documentation as required by Forum and pharmacy regulations.
  • Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of data as required by HIPAA, as well as company and departmental guidelines.
  • Work accurately, efficiently, and consistently, in keeping with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the organization and utilization of equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Support management and Training Specialists in training new order-entry staff.
  • Work with all departments to ensure that all aspects of order entry operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Work with employees to ensure that required tasks and communications are appropriately completed and documented before end of shift.
  • Develop technical knowledge of the products/services provided by the pharmacy and be able to provide information of same to others upon request.
  • Participate in educational and professional programs and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards, and the services offered by the pharmacy.
  • Attend and participate in huddles, pharmacy meetings, and special events.
  • Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet company and accreditation standards.
  • Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols. 
  • Comply with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

Requirements

  • Current unencumbered license in the state of practice: Certified Pharmacy Technician (certification not required for Illinois Pharmacy Technicians licensed before 2008).
  • High School diploma or graduate equivalent degree. College preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a specialized order-entry environment, preferably long-term care or hospital pharmacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with basic Microsoft Office; must demonstrate competence with Forum’s document management and pharmacy information software after appropriate training.
  • Strong data entry and 10-key skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good organizational ability.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, production environment.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
