Cosmetic Laser Dermatology, a Platinum Dermatology Partners company, is seeking an experience Surgical Tech to assist the physicians and/or practitioners in a fast-paced cosmetic dermatology/surgery practice. This candidate must be committed to executing exceptional customer service with excellent listening, oral and written communication skills. We are looking for an individual who is a team player as well as able to function independently. This individual must be professional, tactful, mature, and able to interact well with diverse personalities. The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong critical thinking skills along with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities. Time management skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information are also critical to this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help Circulating Nurse open sterile supplies and prepares for each operative procedure.
- Assist surgeons as scrub nurse according to prescribed standards.
- Scrubs, gowns and gloves in accordance with performance standards.
- Sets up table, instruments and supplies according to the type of operation.
- Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeons.
- Maintains correct count of sponges and needles with Circulator.
- Maintains aseptic technique at all times as dictated by accepted standards.
- Assists in maintenance and care of specimens.
- Assists in application of dressings, and in moving patients.
- Decontaminates all equipment, instruments and supplies and cleans room as directed in procedure.
- Compiles and makes available all necessary supplies needed for each procedure.
- Maintain awareness of safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damage or harm to personnel or patients.
- Assist in inventory of supplies and equipment to assure availability and maintain set level and notify management to reorder.
- Knows where all supplies are kept and is able to get or put away accordingly.
- Assist with emergency procedure as required.
- Provide and make available all supplies for the next surgery day.
- Maintains and increases standards of performance and education.
- Performs additional activities and duties as directed.
- Participates in in-service education programs.
- Participates in training, orientation and staff development programs.
- Keeps informed of current status of Surgical Tech activities and local and national levels.
- Presents a professional image representing OR service to patients and personnel.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patients.
- Recognizes and utilizes appropriate lines of communication.
- Communicates a positive and caring attitude toward unit, peers, staff and all other contacts.
- Seeks guidance, direction and assistance when needed.
- May be expected to lift twenty-five pounds without assistance. Is required to obtain assistance when moving patients unable to assist in move unless patient is in a wheelchair or on a gurney. May be required to push patients in wheelchairs or on gurneys. Will be expected to obtain assistance when needed.
- Also acts as OR Purchasing Agent, Sterile Processing Technologist, and Safety Officer of the Center.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Surgical Technologist Certification preferred
- Certified Licensed Vocational Nurse a plus
- Experience in a surgical setting required
- Dermatology/Cosmetic practice experience preferred
- Must have current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory issues pertaining to group practice
