- Salary of $41.81 per hour plus 12% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.

The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking an enthusiastic and community-focused Transport Project Officer to support and promote active and sustainable travel in our municipality. This role plays a key part in the planning and delivery of behavioural change programs, with a focus on improving travel outcomes for school communities, supporting road safety education, and encouraging walking and cycling.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support new Walking School Bus routes in partnership with local schools and community members.
- Deliver and monitor Council’s Better Moves Around Schools program to encourage safe and active travel to school.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of sustainable transport and road safety education initiatives, including behavioural change programs.
- To assist in the implementation and coordination of key projects, as identified in relevant Council’s strategies i.e. Integrated Transport Strategy.
- Maintain accurate records, including the School Crossing and Supervisor database and support the speed trailer program.
- Collaborate with Council departments, state agencies and local communities to coordinate transport-related initiatives.
- Support the preparation of grant applications and contribute to internal reporting processes.
- Conduct community consultations and assist with transport advocacy initiatives.
- Provide quality customer service on enquiries related to active travel, road safety, and traffic concerns.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will hold formal tertiary qualifications in education, community development, environmental science, business, or a related field, and have experience working with school communities or in the areas of health promotion, sustainable transport, or community education. You will have strong project coordination skills, the ability to manage time effectively, and experience delivering behavioural change programs or environmental initiatives. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools is required, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
