Senior Data Engineer

About the Job

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize scalable, cloud-based data solutions that power the company’s analytics and business processes. You’ll leverage your expertise to architect advanced data pipelines and databases (primarily within AWS), collaborating closely with technical peers and business stakeholders. This senior individual contributor position focuses on hands-on technical impact, cross-team collaboration, and technical excellence.

What You'll Do

• Architect, develop, and maintain cloud-based data warehouses (AWS Redshift), lakes (S3), and analytics solutions.
  

• Design and optimize robust ETL pipelines with AWS Glue, Lambda, Python, and other AWS services.
  

• Develop and manage complex schemas, tables, and advanced SQL procedures/functions.
  

• Implement data ingestion from APIs and other diverse data sources.
  

• Optimize data warehouse performance (query tuning, indexing, caching).
  

• Lead or contribute to data migration projects (AWS DMS, etc.).
  

• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards; facilitate integration within web apps (.NET or similar) as needed.
  

• Drive infrastructure automation and provisioning with AWS CloudFormation.
  

• Enable data science and ML workflows, especially using SageMaker.
  

• Consistently uphold best practices in code quality, data reliability, data modeling, and security.
  

• Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews and best practice sharing.
  

• Actively collaborate with analytics, business, and engineering teams throughout project lifecycles.
  

• Stay up to date with the latest technologies in data engineering and propose innovative solutions.
  
  

What You'll Need

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  

• 5+ years of hands-on work in data engineering, especially within the AWS stack (Redshift, Glue, S3, Lambda, EC2, DMS, CloudFormation, SageMaker).
  

• Advanced SQL proficiency and hands-on experience with relational database systems (Redshift, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).
  

• Significant experience designing and managing complex databases, schemas, tables, and custom functions.
  

• Deep ETL development experience in AWS Glue, Lambda, Python, and integrating data from diverse sources.
  

• Experience with Power BI (developing dashboards, embedding in apps).
  

• Proven expertise in cloud infrastructure provisioning and automation (CloudFormation or similar).
  

• Experience enabling analytics, reporting, and machine learning workloads on AWS.
  

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  

• AWS Data Analytics or relevant cloud/data engineering certification(s).
  

• Experience in large-scale data migrations and NoSQL databases (if relevant to your environment).
  

• Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD for data pipelines.
  

• Proficiency in scripting and automation with Python.
  

• Experience working with distributed or international teams.
  

• Business-oriented mindset; comfortable gathering requirements and translating them into technical designs.
  

• Awareness or knowledge of IT security best practices as defined by ISO/SOC or similar.
