Job Summary
The Data Clerk will contribute to collaborative research that transforms people’s lives through new scientific findings by facilitating collection of quality data and proper data handling in AKILI study while adhering to the standard operating procedures and ethical regulations. AKILI is a study on genetic characterization of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in the Kenyan and South African populations.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and set-up of study databases
- Support management of all study data handling systems – both paper and electronic. This involves testing and troubleshooting to identify errors or potential sources of errors in data collection systems, databases and applications
- Support development, pilot and review of data collection tools
- Support training related to data entry, data quality and use of data collection software applications and devices such as tablets, iPads and Barcode scanners
- Support the selection, purchase, set-up and maintenance of data collection devices including computers, tablets and barcodes
- Support the development and review of site-specific standard operating procedures, policies and processes for data collection and handling
- Respond to queries and data errors and implement corrective actions to clean the data
Champion for good clinical practice and adherence to data protection measures by the data collection team
Requirements
- A minimum of Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics or a closely related field.
- A certificate in computer skills
- Experience supporting research work will be desirable

- Experience in data analysis
