We offer the conveniences of Nuclear Stress Testing and Cardiac PET Imaging at our facilities.


We are seeking to add an experienced Nuclear Medicine Tech to join our Cardiology team! Our ideal candidate must be willing to work in a team environment and provide excellent care and service to our patients. Travel between our Towson (off Beltway Exit 27) and Pikesville (off Beltway Exit 20) offices is required.


Day Shift: 30-32 hours per week

Salary is commensurate with experience


The Nuclear Medicine Tech performs diagnostic procedures to assist our team of Cardiologists, while adhering to all radiation safety policies. The Nuclear Medicine Tech functions as a liaison between the patient and physician, efficiently coordinating and utilizing available resources so as to promote compliance with the company’s highest standards for quality patient care and service.


The Nuclear Medicine Tech is responsible for providing a positive, supportive, nurturing, yet professional experience. The Nuclear Medicine Tech will perform services up to and including triaging patient calls, assisting with an office visit or diagnostic procedure, and providing follow up information for patients and their families or caregivers.


The Nuclear Medicine Tech job duties are executed following established company procedures and etiquette standards:


PATIENT SERVICE:

  • Interviews patient for history and logs vital signs as directed by practitioner.
  • Administers radio-pharmaceuticals to patients by I.V. injection.
  • Maintains compliance with radiation safety policies and documentation requirements for receipt, disposal, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Explains procedures to the patients.
  • Uses gamma camera to perform cardiac imaging.
  • Communicates patient status and information to the appropriate physician.
  • Identifies and assures quality control measures for imaging and surveying equipment, dose calibrators and radiation safety monitors recording results.
  • Verifies scan quality and performs computer image and data processing.
  • Calculates quantity of radiopharmaceutical activity and volume to be administered following prescribed procedures.
  • Assists with the administrator of diagnostic tests including but not limited to: ETT stress test and EKG.
  • Checks the defibrillator to ensure it is in good working condition at all times.
  • Triages patient inquiries: assesses message content, obtains additional information as needed, presents to practitioner and responds as directed.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergent or urgent situations.
  • Reviews patient charts for accuracy of filing.
  • Maintains office quality assurance logs as requested.
  • Maintains OSHA and HIPAA standards.


COMMUNICATION:

  • Welcomes patient concerns and complaints and immediately reports to the supervisor for timely response and follow-through.
  • Assures confidentiality of patient information, processes requests for release of information from practitioners and others.
  • Obtains patient records from other sources, copies, faxes, and mails patient records, and places phone calls at practitioner’s request.


TEAM PERFORMANCE:

  • Participates in team meetings and ongoing training.
  • Participates in training of other Nuclear Medicine Techs and team members as requested.
  • Performs all job duties in a manner that conveys mutual respect, efficiency, and friendly professionalism.
  • Recognizes responsibility to and identifies system problems and makes recommendations for improvement to Supervisor.
  • Is sensitive to the overall needs of practice and assists other team members as necessary to provide service to patients and practitioners.


FACILITIES and INVENTORY CONTROL:

  • Maintains imaging rooms, treadmill rooms, office, and communal areas to ensure a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment.
  • Immediately reports all facility and/or equipment problems to Supervisor.
  • Assists in maintaining laboratory inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Follows established systems to eliminate waste and provide maximum efficiency of supplies and equipment.


GENERAL:

  • All other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. (Required)
  • Graduate of accredited Nuclear Medicine Tech program. (Required)
  • Current National Certification by the Nuclear Medical Technology Certification Board or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Required)
  • Current Maryland State License (Required)
  • Current CPR Certification (Required)
  • Demonstrated competency and working knowledge of:
  • Vital signs; ETT stress tests; EKG
  • General medical office administration procedures
  • Basic computer skills with a willingness and ability to learn new applications.
  • Excellent oral communication skills with ability to hear and to speak Standard English clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to read, write and spell Standard English clearly and concisely.
  • Must be able to comply with the work schedule; arriving on time and working each day as indicated
  • Ability to interact effectively with culturally diverse patient and employee population.
  • Ability to convey a positive attitude and project a professional image.
  • Ability to remain flexible and maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires extended periods of sitting, intermittent standing, reaching, and bending.
  • Must be able to physically assist patients on and off of examination tables and diagnostic equipment and able to lift 10 to 20 lbs. regularly.
