Description

The Keene Family YMCA is seeking part-time staff for their growing Ninja Program! In this role you will supervise open ninja sessions and rentals in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests while exemplifying the Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility.
  2. Responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
  3. Lead energizing, fun, culturally aware, safe, open ninja sessions as directed by the supervisor.
  4. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. 
  5. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  6. Provide direct supervision to Ninja Program participants in accordance with YMCA best practices, policies and procedures. 
  7. Identifies potential volunteers/employees.
  8. Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance.
  9. Conveys program information, surveys, and annual campaign to participants.
  10. Follows all YMCA emergency and safety procedures.
  11. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards, and code of conduct.
  12. Project a positive, enthusiastic, and professional image.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications: 

  1. Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect. 
  2. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. 
  3. Must have a fundamental knowledge of Ninja Obstacle Courses or similar 
  4. Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with class participants, superiors, and co-workers. 
  5. Must be able to implement oral and written instructions. 
  6. Exercises mature judgment and sound decision making. 
  7. Must have 1-2 years of previous experience working with children ages 1-12. 
  8. Must have 1-2 years’ experience with ninja obstacle courses or similar. 

PREFERED LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have 5+ years of Ninja, gymnastics or related coaching or teaching experience. 
  2. Must have knowledge of proper use of ninja/gymnastics equipment. 
  3. Holds a Ninja Coaching Certificate.
