The Digital Archivist/Assistant Archivist helps the Head of Special Collections curate the digital resources of Keene State College’s Special Collections & Archives. This position is not considered essential staff.
Duties/Responsibilities
The responsibilities include (1) creating and managing digital content on KSCommons, the college’s digital repository on the Omeka S platform; (2) creating and managing digital content and descriptions on ArchivesSpace; and (3) maintaining and creating online content on the Special Collection & Archives’ Libguide home site.
In addition, the digital archivist will periodically assist with primary source literacy instructional sessions for visiting classes or special groups and with reference requests from students and researchers.
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Master’s in Library and Information Science or Master’s degree in History, Public History or comparable.
One year of professional archival experience or demonstrated comparable experience in archival or special collections field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Omeka S and creating Dublin Core metadata records.
Experience with ArchivesSpace and knowledge of DACS (Descriptive Archival Content Standards).
Experience with Sharepoint or OneDrive managing digital archival records
Experience with creating and maintaining Libguides
Experience digital scanning equipment and digital image and document editing software, e.g. Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with information or primary source literacy instruction.
Experience with archival reference and processing work.
