Alexandria (Sydney) HQ | Full-time | 1 day WFH per week

The Local Project is one of the fastest growing design publications across Australia, New Zealand, and North America. We celebrate extraordinary local design and its global impact through premium print, digital, video, and social content. With over 100 million impressions per month across our platforms, we’re redefining design media on a global scale. In 2024, we expanded with The Local Production, a full-service creative agency dedicated to elevating brands through strategic storytelling and high-end content creation.

As our audience and creative output continue to grow, we’re looking for a highly skilled and proactive Content Specialist to support the CEO’s personal brand (Aidan Anderson) and our in-house creative studio’s social presence (The Local Production), while also creating content for a key vertical (On The Market). This is a hands-on, execution-focused role supporting our digital content ecosystem; from sourcing beautiful visual content, to managing a publishing schedule, to engaging with our community and tracking content performance. This is an ideal role for someone with a strong track record of social media content creation, excellent organisational skills and a creative eye for short-form video and visual storytelling.

What you'll be doing…

Social Media Management

  • Manage the content strategy and publishing schedule for our CEO’s personal brand (Aidan Anderson) and The Local Production platforms, with a key focus on Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Lead short-form video production (Instagram Reels, TikTok), including shooting, editing and directing where needed, across brand and agency events.
  • Develop content ideas in partnership with senior stakeholders and align with overarching brand goals.
  • Present performance metrics and actionable insights to key internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain audience engagement through proactive community management and ensure brand alignment at all touch points.
  • Stay ahead of platform updates, trends and algorithm changes, integrating best practice into strategy execution.

Content Creation & Digital Support (On The Market)

  • Lead the creation of visually impactful short-form content showcasing design-led properties and project campaigns.
  • Cut and refine supplied or self-shot footage into platform-appropriate content, with strong attention to aesthetic and messaging.
  • Manage the end-to-end publishing process including video creation, captioning, tagging and engagement optimisation.
  • Coordinate cross-functional input to ensure timely delivery of content aligned with campaign needs.
  • Work closely with the Digital team to surface insights, measure success and identify ways to optimise performance.
  • Track content performance across and own monthly reporting for both internal purposes and client campaigns.

Who you are…

  • A content or digital media specialist with 5+ years of experience in content creation, digital marketing or social media management roles.
  • Confident managing multiple content calendars, reporting results to senior stakeholders and developing platform-specific content strategies (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and Pinterest).
  • Highly proficient in short-form video creation; you can self-produce and edit compelling visual content using mobile (CapCut, InShot, Premiere Rush etc.) or professional tools.
  • Confident pitching ideas and reporting to senior management.
  • Strong written and editorial skills; you can adapt tone of voice and brand messaging seamlessly across platforms.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and managing competing deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • Strategic mindset; you understand how content supports broader brand, marketing or business objectives.
  • Proactive and collaborative, with a genuine interest in architecture, design and storytelling

Bonus points for:

Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

Driver’s licence and access to a car.
