General Laborer

Overview

The General Laborer at our Aggregates mining plant in Clermont, FL plays a key role in supporting the efficient and safe extraction, processing, and transportation of aggregate materials. This position involves performing a variety of physical tasks, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Handling:
• Assist with the movement, loading, and unloading of raw materials and finished aggregates using shovels, wheelbarrows, or other equipment.
• Maintain clean work areas by removing debris, excess materials, and waste.
• Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
• Operate basic equipment such as conveyors, crushers, and screens under supervision.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and report mechanical issues to supervisors.
• Assist with the lubrication and cleaning of machinery to ensure operational efficiency.
• Safety Compliance:
• Follow all company and regulatory safety guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times as required by MSHA.
• Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately.
• Participate in safety training sessions and drills.
• Support Duties:
• Assist skilled workers and operators in tasks as directed.
• Help with the setup and teardown of operational equipment during production shifts.
• Ensure proper storage and organization of tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Environmental Compliance:
• Adhere to environmental regulations by minimizing spills, dust, and other impacts.
• Support reclamation activities as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in construction, mining, or a related field is an asset but not required.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems or willingness to learn.

Working Conditions:
