About us 

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.  

 

About the role 

The primary purpose of the role is to: 

Ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are informed of their legal options and assist in addressing their unmet legal needs. 

Assist legal officers and administrative staff to help develop, coordinate, facilitate and implement outreach services, community legal education sessions and engagement with  Aboriginal communities.

 

Assist the Solicitor in Charge, Office Manager, Associate Directors and Solicitors on local community issues that may arise. 

 

About you 

You are a collaborative and approachable individual who thrives in team environments and communicates with clarity and purpose. With a natural ability to engage stakeholders across diverse backgrounds, you bring empathy and insight to every interaction. 

Ideally, you have experience working within Aboriginal communities, whether through direct engagement, service delivery or cultural partnerships and you're passionate about fostering respectful and inclusive relationships. 

Project management experience is a plus, but not essential. What matters most is your readiness to contribute, learn, and make a meaningful impact.

The essential requirements for this role 

You must: 

  • be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander 

  • be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check 

  • hold a drivers’ licence 

 

The Family Law Division have several roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working with Children Check. You will be required to provide your Working with Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
