Radiation Therapist 13-Week Temporary Program Agreement

The 13-Week Temporary Program is a staffing strategy that helps to support the staffing needs in designated areas thereby improving recruitment and retention. This 13-Week Temporary Program will be evaluated and changes may be made on an ongoing basis or as needed to determine effectiveness and continuation of the program. 

Staff who accept a 13-Week Temporary position are required to sign a 13-Week Temporary Program Agreement.  Agreements are signed by the staff member and department director.

Definitions:

13-Week Assignment - Any combination of hours worked each pay period to fulfill either a Full-Time or Part-Time status, as agreed upon at time of hire, during a consecutive 13-week period.

13-Week Premium - Hourly rate of pay will reflect current market value effective date of signed agreement.

Supplemental Pay - Not eligible for Call, Short-Notice, Shift Differential, Bonus and Holiday Pay.

Benefits:

Staff in the 13 Week Temporary Program will be considered eligible for the medical plan and Paid Time Off (PTO).

Expectations:

  1. Staff participating in the 13 Week Temporary Program will be scheduled to work in either a Full-Time (F.9) or Part-Time (P.6) status per pay period.

  2. Must be a licensed Radiation Therapist in the state of Illinois with a minimum of 1 year experience.

  3. Must be able to function as an independent Radiation Therapist following successful completion of 3 orientation shifts.

  4. Eligible for Staff Appreciation and Recognition Program.

  5. All FHN regulatory and department specific required education must be completed.

  6. Staff must abide by all FHN policies and PRIDE standards.

 

Job Summary:

Administers therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation and simulates patients in accordance with prescription and instructions of radiation oncologist. Performs routine tumor localization procedures with general guidance and direction from the Dosimetrist. Displays a commitment to excellent customer service, critical thinking, technical and interpersonal skills to achieve optimal patient outcomes.  Incorporates a positive team approach.  Key public relations position which may involve patient’s complaints and concerns.

Qualifications

Education:          Graduate of a school in Radiation Therapy Technology approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and accreditation.

Required Experience:    Zero to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

ARRT registered in Radiation Therapy; IDNS in Radiation Therapy. Current CPR certification

Terms & Conditions:

  1. Overtime is based on a 40-hour work week.

  2. Staff will be required to perform CT simulation scans, assist with administrative paperwork (with training), and setup patients for IMRT, SBRT, or any other treatments provided.
  3. Staff will be required to commit to working the full 13-week assignment. If a shift is missed, the agreement will be extended by the number of shifts missed to meet the full 13-week requirement.

  4. FHN reserves the right to change the terms of this agreement at any time.

  5. This agreement is not and shall not be considered an employment contract or a guarantee of continued employment for any particular term. Employment with FHN is at-will and, therefore, the employer/employee relationship may be terminated by either party with or without cause at any time.
