General Summary
Certified Pharmacy Technician I assists with preparation and distribution of medications. The Certified Pharmacy Technician I position requires specialized pharmacy education, training, and subsequent certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or comparable entity. The Certified Pharmacy Technician I role is eligible for advanced technician positions based upon job performance and successful completion of requirements for advancement established in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids.
Essential Functions:
- Pursuant to the needs and offerings of the hiring department, essential job accountabilities may include the following:
- Receives and stocks deliveries of pharmaceuticals and other supplies.
- Prepares, packages, and labels medications prior to dispensing.
- Delivers medications to care areas within the hospital.
- Delivers medications to off-site locations.
- Manages pharmacy inventory management, including use of electronic inventory management systems.
- Monitors product expirations and removing outdated stock from inventory.
- Responds to product recalls.
- Compounds non-sterile and sterile medication preparations.
- Cleans and disinfects procedures.
- Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones and maintaining adequate supplies.
- Identifies at least one area of specialized skill or expertise.
- Trains/mentors new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns.
- Maintains sufficient additional criteria as outlined in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- No experience.
Licenses:
- Certified Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required or
- Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required
