The Alwaleed Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World at the University of Edinburgh seeks to appoint a Project and Communications Officer to commence on 29th September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

 

The Opportunity:

 

A unique and exciting role in a dynamic research centre working with a variety of partners and stakeholders from within and beyond the University of Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will develop and deliver the Alwaleed Centre’s yearly programme of outreach events and activities aimed at promoting a better understanding of Islam and the Muslim world to a variety of audiences beyond the University of Edinburgh. They will also play a central role in coordinating projects and producing dynamic online content for the Alwaleed Cultural Network – a unique network of universities, museums and cultural institutions working across three continents.

The is a full-time role (35 hours per week) and is fixed term for a period of 12 months. The role combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to develop and manage relationships with partners and stakeholders in a variety of academic and non-academic environments.
  • Experience of working in cross-cultural contexts.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines. 
  • A flexible, positive, friendly approach and a proactive team player
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
