JOB TITLE:  

Branding Iron Visual Editor

JOB PURPOSE:   

Provide supervision of staff photographers, make and follow through on all photo assignments, and shoot photographs for the Branding Iron newspaper and BI Online Web site. Work with the editors to identify and create visuals for print and web product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. In consultation with section editor, provide assignments of photos for newspaper.
  2. Provide cutlines for all photos shot in a timely manner prior to publication. 
  3. Supervise work of photographers and their photo assignments.
  4. Meet with editor as needed. 
  5. Maintain regular office hours of not less than 10 hours per week. 
  6. Supervise payroll procedures for photographers.
  7. Delegates duties. Conduct regular meetings with section editors to discuss story ideas, assignments and the general direction of the newspaper. 
  8. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Full-time student
  2. Minimum 2.5 GPA
  3. Access to a digital camera.
  4. Must be available to start work Aug. 18, 2025
  5. Must be available for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights.
  6. Must be available Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

  1. Ability to shoot quality digital photographs in newspaper style
  2. Some prior supervisory experience
