Job Description 

EXP is seeking an Emergency Communications Manager to join our Miami, Florida team. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact to ensure that all communications during emergencies and crises are managed effectively, professionally, and efficiently. Ensure that crisis management and communication services are delivered to both the community and the department in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.  

  • Help coordinate communication efforts that reflect our client’s mission, vision, and values. 
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities to meet deadlines and expectations. 
  • Exhibit a collaborative, team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. 


Your Responsibilities 

  • Perform work under the guidance of Senior Leadership. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact to ensure that all communications during emergencies or crises are managed effectively and efficiently. 
  • Execute overall messaging strategy during challenging situations and major emergencies. 
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to adjust communication strategies as needed. 
  • Prepare media statements, press releases, social media content, and other critical communications during emergency events. 
  • Apply strategic and innovative thinking to deliver high-quality services and clear messaging. 
  • Effectively manage assignments and priorities to ensure timely completion of projects, tasks, and responsibilities. 
  • Follow established procedures to uphold the highest standards of risk management, employee safety, and risk mitigation. 
  • Respond to incoming service calls and address citizen complaints appropriately. 
  • Perform additional duties relevant to the position as assigned. 

 

The Skills and Knowledge You Bring 

  • AA or BS in Communication, Public Relations or Marketing preferred  
  • Minimum of five years of experience in crisis management and crisis communications 
  • Experience in Communications Specialist/Technical Writer 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
